Pursuant to Schedule I, Section 7(b) of the Lagos State University Law, 2004, the Bursar is ‘the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University’. By virtue of his office, the Bursar monitors income and expenditure in relation to budgetary provisions and presents regular financial reports to the Governing Council
Mr. Said Babatunde OLAYINKA was born on 26th June, 1968 in Lagos. Before his appointment as Bursar of the Lagos State University in June 2018, Olayinka had held many positions in the Bursary Department and the Directorate of Internal Audit of the University, the last of which was the position of Director, Internal Audit.
Appointed into the service of the University as a Clerical Assistant in 1986, Olayinka has in the last 32 years rose through the ranks, serving at different times as Senior Purchasing Clerk, Assistant Executive Officer, Deputy Head/Accountant II at the Cash and Revenue Offices, Accountant I at AASOC, Head/ Senior Account at Salaries & Wages, Head/Principal Accountant at Final Account Unit, Head/Chief Accountant at Reconciliation Unit before his appointment as Director, Internal Audit in 2012.
His Academic attainments are no less impressive. In 1985, he obtained his O’levels Certificate from Ansar-ud-deen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos. He proceeded to Yaba College of Technology, Yaba to obtain his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Accounting in 1992 and later obtained his Higher National Diploma in the same course in 1996. In 2001, Olayinka obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in planning Studies at Lagos State University, Ojo and later, in 2005, he obtained his Master’s in Business Administration in the same institution. Olayinka also holds a Bachelors’ of Science Degree (Upper Division) in Accounting Education from the Lagos State University.
Olayinka is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management. At various times in his Career at the Institution, Olayinka has served on more than 30 Committees variously as Member, Secretary, Vice-Chairman or Chairman. He has also attended many seminars, workshops and conferences. He has also served as the Auditor of Epe Division Forum. He still remains an active member of the Forum till date.
He enjoys reading, listening to music, dancing and socializing. Olayinka is married and blessed with children.
